The Mine is located on the banks of The Mahakam River (approx 200 Mtr wide) having well developed shipping route for transportation of cargo through water barges. Coal barges carrying 8,000 MT of load can easily be transported to the nearest port through Mahakam River.
The nearest mother vessel location is at Maura Java which is approximately 225 nautical miles from the mine site. It takes two days for the barge to reach mother vessel at Maura Java. The second nearest mother vessel location is at Muara Berau, located at about 260 nautical miles from the Mine site reachable in three days’ time.
Close proximity of coal deposit allow easy transportation of coal through barge with combination of tug and flat top barge without any road haulage. Jetty is located within the Mine concession area and the entire land up to jetty (including jetty) is owned by the Company. This enables smooth and cost effective hauling of coal up to jetty and loading onto barges.
Currently, the company is using its two jetties for loading barges by using trucks/dumpers. The company has the capacity to load upto 160,000 tons of coal per month. Plan is to operate one more loading facility through a barge load conveyor system with a capacity of 1000 tonnes per hour.
